Mixed Ability is a social movement within sports, actively promoting inclusion and equality through a sense of belonging and membership to a group, team or club.

International Mixed Ability Sports (IMAS) help bring people of all abilities together to play sports and learn from each other. They do this by training coaches, sports clubs and governing bodies in the Mixed Ability model to ensure everyone, of any ability and life experience, is welcomed and included as an equal into grassroots sports.

IMAS are offering a free ‘Introduction to Mixed Ability’ workshop for all clubs and coaches in Wirral, on Wednesday 8th December, 6.00 – 7.30pm.

This workshop will introduce you to the Mixed Ability model, supporting you to welcome a greater diversity of people, increase membership, and become more sustainable. There will be plenty of opportunities for you to ask questions and address any concerns that you may have about getting started.

Please find a link here to the PDF booklet for the IMAS accreditation.

Clubs can sign up for the event here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/wirral-sports-development-introduction-to-mixed-ability-tickets-211094377967

Multiple people from each club are welcome to attend if they would like to. If they could please register separately so we have the full picture of who is coming, that would be great.

Once registered individuals will be sent a Microsoft Teams invite to join on the day of the event.

In addition to this free workshop, IMAS will be selecting a number of clubs to receive the free IMAS Accreditation training, usually priced at £700. Our accredited clubs have full access to our peer network and the research we conduct, drawing on the latest evidence from across the world. Details of how to apply for this scheme will be made available during the workshop.

Details of how to become a member of the Wirral Sports Forum are on our Contact Page.
